| dc.description.abstract | The placenames and topography of the Gaeltacht of Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh (Ballingeary) are the study subjects in this thesis. An effort has been made to fill the maps that were created as part of this thesis as accurately as possible with the placenames discussed along with identifying information provided on the same page. The information was further enhanced with the use of folklore sources relative to the area or townland and for this the O Donoghue Papers and the Irish Folklore Collection were mainly used. There is a great volume of information collected by Fr O Donoghue relating to Guogane written here and it gives a great insight to us about the place and the happenings of that time. | en |
