Abstract
On the basis of a reading of Jacques Derrida's reading of Nietzsche's On the Future of our Educational Institutions, this paper argues for an understanding of teaching in terms of what happens in the ear of the other. If it is the ear of the other that signs, as Derrida suggests, then, the paper argues, we need to think about teaching in terms of otogogy.
