The Elysian: Creative Responses brings together established and emergent writers from Cork’s vibrant literary scene. Poets, fiction writers and essayists direct their creative lens on what is now, at least vertically, Cork’s standout architectural edifice. The result is a fascinating glimpse into the imaginative culture of Cork over, and now in some ways, beyond, the period of the recent economic crisis. Edited by Graham Allen and Billy Ramsey, this collection includes some of Ireland's most accomplished contemporary writers, including Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Cónal Creedon, Thomas McCarthy, Mary Morrissy, Madeleine D'Arcy, Patrick Cotter, and Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh. New Binary Press was an independent publishing house based in Cork city, Ireland. It published print books and electronic literature, specialising in more experimental works, as well as a number of periodicals. It was established and run by its editor, James O'Sullivan. New Binary Press ceased operations after a decade having published a select few titles, though many of these went on to receive considerable critical acclaim, most notably, Graham Allen's The One That Got Away and The Blocks, by Karl Parkinson.en
