dc.description.abstractIn this paper we apply local bifurcation theory to prove the existence of steady, periodic, two-dimensional surface water waves in the equatorial region which have a general underlying vorticity distribution. Furthermore, we derive explicit dispersion relations for the flow in the case where the vorticity is constant.en
