dc.description.abstractThis paper summarises developments in senior cycle education in Ireland between 1965 when the Investment in Education report was published, to 1995. It highlights the six-fold growth in participation in senior cycle during that period and discusses the implications of that growth for the Leaving Certificate curriculum. It raises questions about the challenges which are likely to arise for the proposed new Leaving Certificate Applied for schools and teachers.en
