Abstract
Metasurfaces offer unique capabilities for controlling electromagnetic waves at subwavelength scales, enabling innovative sensing and display applications. In this contribution, we present recent advances in the design and application of functional metasurfaces. Key topics include metasurfaces supporting bound-state-in-the-continuum resonances for enhanced electromagnetic field localization in spectroscopy and guided-mode resonance metasurfaces for polychromatic displays highlighting their potential for multicolor generation. Finally, we explore the design of a thermoplasmonic coupler for localized heat generation to selectively actuate VO2 phase-change, a critical mechanism for reconfigurable metasurfaces technologies.
