dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the system of education in Ireland, focusing in particular on the control and management of primary and secondary schools by the Churches. It chronicles the movement by parents in Dalkey, Co. Dublin in the early 1970 to set up a state-aided multi­denominational primary school which would accept children of all religions and none and would be controlled and managed by a non­-Church based limited company.en
