| dc.description.abstract | It is argued that a type of apparent siliqua with reverse depicting the legend PERPETVETAS about a phoenix standing upon a globe was struck at Trier alone either because the revolt by Magnus Maximus (383-388) prevented its production at other western mints also or because it was struck by officials at Trier without due authorization by the imperial court. It is also argued that this type was struck to commemorate the death of Constantia, the wife of the western emperor Gratian (367-383). | en |
