dc.description.abstractHigher education institutions (HEIs) in Ireland are still at an early stage in recognising student volunteering and student-led engagement activities. Not surprisingly then, research on student volunteering, and on the potential benefits for communities, HEIs and young people themselves, is limited in the Irish context. In this report, we seek to contribute to this underresearched field of educational and social research. Based on a survey of over 2,000 students at University College Cork (UCC), the report represents one of the most comprehensive studies of student volunteering in Ireland to date.en
