Abstract
Real stories or non-fictional narratives can be a meaningful or powerful way to ground human rights in real experience. They have long been used to pinpoint the intersection of human rights and personal testimony or ‘life narrative’, often through emotive stories. Keeping with this tradition, and as a foray into the multi-faceted chapters in this volume on freedom of expression, this opening narrative chapter seeks to briefly capture real moments of participation in associations.
