Abstract
The exploration of freedom of association in China has particular significance due to China’s unique socio-political landscape. This article reviews the general legal structure that governs freedom of association in China from the perspectives of legislature, administration, and courts, and provides an in-depth analysis of the legal sources and contents of the relevant laws and regulations while revealing the limitations faced by the associations and their members. It discusses the nature of freedom of association in China and examines its implications for the development of associations in the long term.
