dc.description.abstractThe LECP is ‘a process that seeks to enhance the delivery of national social and economic policy at the local level’ (Cork City Council, 2016). The Cork City LECP’s purpose sets out, for a six-year period, the objectives and actions needed to promote and support the economic development and the community development of the Cork area, both by Cork Local Authority directly and in partnership with other economic and community development stakeholders. This report contributes to the revised Cork City LECP by reviewing relevant local, regional, national, and global policies and strategies in areas surrounding social inclusion, enterprise, community development, participation, and support as well as sustainability. This report assists in deciding which high-level goals should be included in the newly revised Cork City Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). By way of a summary table, the report reviews eighty-six policies. Key policy themes, as well as gaps in current LECP policy are identified. Recommendations are also made for policy development. Six high level goals are identified, namely, A Healthy and Happy Community; A Place of Values, Culture and Meaning; Innovative, Supportive and Social Partnerships; Inclusive Participation, Democracy and Good Governance; A Sustainable Green Environment and Work, Economic Growth, and Prosperity. Each respective goal is representative of the wider UN Sustainable Development themes People, Partnership, Peace, Planet and Prosperity. The report connects these high-level goals with the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). Finally, the report concludes connecting the suggested high level goals with pertinent policies.en
