Abstract
This article was part of an issue of the Oxford Literary Review which consisted of a series of email exchanges between the editors Timothy Clark and Nicholas Royle and colleagues working in universities in a number of countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, India, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, and the United States. Each exchange begins with the same question, namely an invitation to reflect on US domination vis-à-vis the university and the humanities. Thereafter each develops in its own way, though numerous shared motifs and concerns also emerge, in particular around the notion of colonized thinking.
