Abstract
The widespread use of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) personal smartphones, Instant Messaging (IM) and third-party apps has made these technologies compelling and ubiquitous for efficient communication among clinicians facilitating patient care. However, the sensitivity of patient information necessitates secure, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant digital channels that prevent unauthorised access and ensure confidentiality. This is a series of studies forming a thesis addressing the research question: How do / should clinicians use smartphone technologies to communicate patient data?
